The state’s role in protecting citizen information is the topic of a Michigan State University policy forum on Wednesday, May 11. The forum is part of the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research’s (IPPSR) annual series.
Legislators, staffers, state department officials and other Michigan residents will gather at the event to hear from two experts:
- Nora Rifon, associate professor, MSU College of Communication Arts and Sciences
- Dan Lohrmann, Michigan Department of Information technology director of enterprise security and chief information security officer
Personal finance, education and medical-related records on most citizens are maintained by the state. The forum will focus on proposals to protect this information and on a new cybersecurity Web site that the state is launching this week.
The media is invited to this 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. luncheon. It will be held in downtown Lansing in the Mackinac Room (fifth floor) of the Anderson House Office Building, 124 North Capitol Ave.
A $15 registration fee covers lunch and all materials. The forum is co-sponsored by the MSU College of Communication Arts and Sciences.
In its 13th year, the IPPSR policy forum series informs the legislative debate by connecting campus and capitol resources with decision makers.
